Colerain meetings address new plan
COLERAIN TWP. - The township will hold a series of neighborhood meetings this month to discuss a comprehensive plan that will help in the creation of a new, modern zoning resolution. The township has been divided into "character areas," sections with similar issues and characteristics, for zoning considerations. These character-area meetings will take place at 7 p.m.:
Today at Skyline Community Center, 8500 Pippin Road - Rumpke, Bevis, Pleasant Run, Northbrook and Groesbeck.
Thursday at Southern Ohio Dog and Game Preserve, 10630 E. Miami River Road - The rural north, Dunlap, Pebble Creek, Dry Ridge, Miami River Valley south and Harrison Avenue.
Sept. 8 at the Clippard YMCA, 8920 Cheviot Road - Colerain Avenue and the Colerain Township portion of White Oak.
Sept. 9 at the Colerain Township Government Complex, 4200 Springdale Road - Springdale, Blue Rock and Daleview roads and Peach Grove.

New Warren fee pays for water quality
LEBANON - Warren County commissioners Tuesday approved imposing a $15 fee in five townships to pay for water quality improvements in rivers and streams.
The annual fee will be charged to property owners in Clearcreek, Franklin, Hamilton, Turtlecreek and Union townships. The fee will start appearing on property tax bills next year.
The commissioners' decision came after a meeting with township representatives and County Engineer Neil Tunison.
The money raised will pay for federal mandates in the 1972 Clean Water Act.
Church forms new preschoolers program
NORTH COLLEGE HILL - A new Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group has been formed at LifeSpring Christian Church, 1373 W. Galbraith Road. The group will have its first meeting 9:15-11:15 a.m. today. For information, call the church at 522-7707.
Groundbreaking for conservatory
HAMILTON - Ground will be broken today for the new $3.5 million conservatory on the Miami University Hamilton campus.
About half of the 7,000square-foot building donated by the Richard J. Fitton family will be under glass. The building will be used for botanical displays, research, instruction and meetings.
Butler County begins United Way campaign
WEST CHESTER TWP. - The Butler County United Way kicks off its annual fund drive with a 7:30 a.m. breakfast today at the Wingate Inn.
Reds Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench will be the keynote speaker at the meeting, which will celebrate the organization's 85th anniversary.
The organization raised a record $2.6 million to fund 50 programs through 29 agencies last year, said Theressa Griggs, resource development director.
