New Warren fee pays for water quality

LEBANON - Warren County commissioners Tuesday approved imposing a $15 fee in five townships to pay for water quality improvements in rivers and streams.

The annual fee will be charged to property owners in Clearcreek, Franklin, Hamilton, Turtlecreek and Union townships. The fee will start appearing on property tax bills next year.

The commissioners' decision came after a meeting with township representatives and County Engineer Neil Tunison.

The money raised will pay for federal mandates in the 1972 Clean Water Act.
