Boone Co. deputy injured in collision
ERLANGER - A Boone County sheriff's deputy was injured Wednesday when a car struck his cruiser on Interstate 275.
About 6:25 p.m. Deputy Doug Mallery was pulled over on Interstate 275 in Erlanger for a traffic stop when a 2004 Toyota Camry hit the back of his cruiser. The driver, Tammy Hornick, 30, of Las Vegas, was not charged, said Erlanger police Lt. Kevin Gilpin.
Mallery was treated for minor injuries at St. Luke West Hospital.
18 Covington homes, gardens open for tour
COVINGTON - Eighteen turn-of-the century homes and secret gardens will be open for public tours the weekend of Sept. 25-26.
Tours will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A $15 ticket can be purchased at the Ashbrook House, 1010 Russell St. Parking is available at 10th and Russell streets and Robbins and Banklick streets.
Investigation continues in fatal train-car wreck
DRY RIDGE - Kentucky State Police continued its investigation Thursday into the train-car accident that killed two people Wednesday.
Timothy "Andy" Whalen and Amy Crabtree, both 21 and of Dry Ridge, were in their car on a private railroad crossing in Grant County when a Norfolk Southern train hit the car.
The couple died at the scene. Their two children Sierra, 3, and Emilee, 4 months, were taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where they were both in fair condition Thursday.
Taylor Mill Park Fest Sept. 18 at Pride Park
TAYLOR MILL - The sixth annual Park Fest at Pride Park is Sept. 18.
Festivities run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Shuttle service will be provided from the parking lots of Scott High School and Allison & Rose Funeral Home.
Activities include A Taste of Taylor Mill food booths, carnival rides, a rock climbing wall, clowns and jugglers, hayrides, a children's fire safety house, musical entertainment and ice cream and pie-eating contests.
The day will end with fireworks about 8:45 p.m. at the park at 5614 Taylor Mill Road.
The Taylor Mill Cookbook, recipes from Taylor Mill residents and friends, will be sold for $10. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks will benefit the Taylor Mill Recreation Department.
Fort Mitchell tree board meets Sept. 9
FORT MITCHELL - The city's tree board will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 9.
The meeting will be in council chambers at the city building, 2355 Dixie Highway.
