Tree falls on head, killing 82-year-old

STONELICK TWP. - An Owensville-area man was killed Monday while trying to remove a tree from his yard.

Donald McAfee, 82, of Ohio 132, died about noon when the tree hooked to his tractor fell and struck him in the head, Clermont County Sheriff A. J. "Tim" Rodenberg said.Hyde Park man struck by van dies in hospital

An 81-year-old man struck by a van while walking near the Hyde Park Kroger Aug. 28 has died.

Robert F. Kendall died Saturday at University Hospital. The retired interior decorator was walking near Paxton Avenue and Wasson Road near the Kroger fuel station when he was hit by a turning van.

No charges have been filed, Cincinnati Police Officer Ted Robinson said Monday.

Fatal crash in Ky. under investigation

AUGUSTA, Ky. - A two-car collision in Bracken County that killed an Ashland man Saturday remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

Robert J. Jett, 21, died when the car he was riding in, a 1988 Pontiac Fiero, crossed the center line on the AA Highway three miles west of Augusta at 2:52 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the Fiero, Anthony Gamble, 21, of Ashland, suffered multiple injuries and was taken by Air Care to University Hospital in Cincinnati. He was treated and released.

Gamble's car struck a Dodge pickup truck driven by Vernon Alsept, 55, of Owingsville.

A passenger in the truck, Sharon King, 50, of Olympia, was treated at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville and released, police said. Alsept declined treatment for a minor injury, police said.

Jett was declared dead at the scene by Bracken County Coroner John Parker.

Jett and Gamble were not wearing seat belts, police said.
