The Enquirer

COLUMBIA TWP. - A Kennedy Heights man has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl at a motel late Thursday, authorities said.

There is no known relationship between Bobby D. Vaughn, 47, and the victim, said Hamilton County sheriff's deputies.

The girl told deputies she went with Vaughn to the Motel 6 at 5300 Kennedy Ave. about 10 p.m. and the suspect raped her twice.

The girl was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and was released.

Vaughn was jailed.

14-year-old denies charges in 2 killings

A 14-year-old Over-the-Rhine boy accused of killing two men pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of aggravated murder, murder and two counts of aggravated robbery.

David Harris, believed to be the youngest person charged as an adult on murder charges in Hamilton County, made the plea before Common Pleas Court Judge Patrick Dinkelacker.

Harris' attorney, John Connelly, filed a motion suggesting his client may be incompetent and requested that Harris' mental state be evaluated.

Harris is charged with killing George Vance, 27, and David Hutchinson, 20, fours days apart in May in Over-The-Rhine.

Man already in jail indicted in slaying

A man jailed on drug charges was indicted Friday in an April homicide in Over-the-Rhine.

David Wright, 33, of Mount Auburn, had been arrested Aug. 7 and charged with possession of cocaine.

A grand jury on Friday added the charge of murder and illegally carrying a weapon in the April 10 fatal shooting of Roger Shelton, 23, at 14th and Race streets.

Banning Road crash kills College Hill man

SPRINGFIELD TWP. - A College Hill man was killed Friday when the car he was driving crashed into a utility pole.

Derrick L. Young, 18, was dead at the scene, Springfield Township police said.

Young was driving west on Banning Road near Pippin Road about 12:15 p.m. when the vehicle went off the road, police said.
