'Magic' Johnson to visit namesake

The Enquirer

Basketball Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson is scheduled to take part today in the noon ribbon-cutting for the Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center. The ceremony and community celebration will be at the Citizens' Committee on Youth office at 224 W. Liberty St., West End.

The Inventor Center - one of 16 others in 12 U.S. cities - is designed to address technical illiteracy among residents in urban areas. HP and the Magic Johnson Foundation are funding the Inventor Centers, where state-of-the-art technology is available to underserved communities with resources to improve access to educational opportunities.

County seats open to Bengals fans

Hamilton County residents have the chance to watch the Bengals from the county's Paul Brown Stadium suite.

Sixteen winners and their guests will be selected to see the Bengals versus Broncos on Oct. 25 or the Bengals versus Browns on Nov. 28. To enter the drawing, which is for Hamilton County residents only, leave a phone message at 946-4994 or go online at www.hamilton-co.org. Winners will be chosen Oct. 6 and Nov. 10.

St. Rita brings back hauntings

The St. Rita Haunted House returns for a 29th year at a Civil War-era farmhouse in Evendale. The red-brick home is located on the hill behind St. Rita School for the Deaf on Glendale-Milford Road off of Interstate 75. The haunted house is open every Thursday through Sunday starting Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. Closing times are 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets at the door are $8 each. All proceeds benefit St. Rita School for the Deaf. Information: 771-1060 or www.srsdeaf.org.

Multimedia show brings arts outside

A free outdoor media arts showcase in Over-the-Rhine, sponsored by Media Bridges, will feature works from local, national and international video, film and other artists from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 2 in the parking lot at Race Street and Central Parkway. The highlight of the multimedia extravaganza is the screening of digital videoscapes, short films and other original works, projected 20 feet high on "canvases" - the walls of Over-the-Rhine buildings. Media Bridges is a nonprofit organization supported mainly by the city of Cincinnati through Time Warner Cable access fees.

TRAFFIC WATCH

The ramp from westbound Ohio 562 (Norwood Lateral) to southbound Interstate 75 will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday for milling and repaving.
