School treasurer dies of cancer

Charles "Chuck" Gossett, treasurer of the West Clermont Local School District, died Wednesday morning. Gossett, 53, was diagnosed with brain cancer in July and had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Gossett had been a school treasurer for 18 years in Southwest Ohio, the last nine years with West Clermont and previously at Fairfield City Schools and Franklin City Schools. Gossett's wife, Debbie, is treasurer of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center in Clayton, near Dayton.
University chosen in 'preemie' study
University Hospital has been chosen as a training site for a national research project to determine the best method of delivering oxygen to premature babies. The study will involve 16 medical centers and more than 1,300 premature infants, all born at less than 27 weeks gestation.
Oktoberfest alters bus routes
Metro bus routes downtown will be affected this weekend because of street closings for Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, which takes place on Fifth Street from Race to Broadway streets.
Bus detours will begin as early as 6 p.m. Friday and will continue through 4 a.m. Monday. Also, an Oktoberfest Express will operate from park-and-ride locations: Western Hills Plaza, and Forest Park (1160 Kemper Meadow Drive), which will stop at Seventh and Race, downtown; and Raymond Walters College (9555 Plainfield Road) and Union Township Civic Center (4350 Aicholtz Road), which will stop at Fifth and Broadway, downtown. Fare is $3 round trip, or $2 one way.
