Lakota meetings to cover Nov. levy

LIBERTY TWP. - Lakota Schools Superintendent Kathleen Klink will hold a series of coffees with the community to answer questions about the levy that will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The issue would provide $80.3 million to construct three schools and renovate two others along with $12.4 million annually for day-to-day operations. Taxes would increase $236 annually on a $100,000 house.
The meetings will begin at 7 p.m. Here are the first few dates:
Monday: Lakota East.
Tuesday: Van Gorden Elementary.
Sept. 28: Liberty Elementary.
Mason scholarship run honors late teacher
MASON - Registration has opened for the Janis Peck Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk, set for 10 a.m. Oct. 10 and starting near the municipal pool in Mason.
Sponsored by the Mason Education Association, cost is $17.50 for the race only or $22.50 for the race and a T-shirt. Register online at http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1167810. Donations can also be made through the link.

Hamilton education awards set for Oct. 14
HAMILTON - Twenty-three educators will vie for the top honor in the second annual Harry T. Wilks Hamilton Celebrates Education awards sponsored by the Hamilton Community Foundation.
The dinner and awards program begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Hamiltonian Hotel. Five educators will be recognized as finalists in early October. The Educator of the Year will receive $3,000 for his school and each of the other four finalists will receive $500.

Dedications planned for Lebanon schools
LEBANON - Dedication ceremonies for Bowman Primary and Lebanon High School will be held Sunday afternoon at each building.
Each 30-minute program will be followed by refreshments. People will be able to tour each building.
The program begins at 1 p.m. at Bowman Primary, 825 Hart Road. There, second-graders will introduce the new school song composed by music teacher Jennifer McDonel.
Dedication ceremonies begin 4 p.m. at Lebanon High School, 1916 Drake Road.
Springboro junior high raising trip money
SPRINGBORO - Students and staff at Springboro Junior High School are selling entertainment books for $25. Proceeds will help defray the cost of the class trip to Washington, D.C., for those who can't afford it. Information: (937) 748-3953.
