A guide to what's going on
Got chili?
Baby back ribs await: September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the folks at Chili's Grill and Bar restaurants want to help. This month, guests at the chain's more than 850 locations can donate $1 or more to color a pinup of a Chili's signature pepper which will be posted on the wall. The money (along with 100 percent of proceeds from meals served on Monday) will be donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which leads the way in treating pediatric cancer.
Chili's restaurants are at 855 E. Kemper Road in Springdale, and 11329 Montgomery Road, Symmes Township. For more locations, visit www.chilis.com.

The conference is sponsored by Beech Acres, which offers programs for families and children.
Admission is $40, which includes two keynote sessions, three workshops, lunch and a gift bag. Register before Oct. 15 and save $10 off the cost. Details, www.beechacres.org.

Stick with tear-free shampoo for now.
Empty economy-size shampoo and conditioner bottles into small, squeezable ones that are easier to hold.
Teach him how to adjust the hot and cold water. Set the temperature for him until he gets the hang of it.
Remove items like razors, shaving cream and cleaning sprays.
Install mats or skid-free strips to the tub or shower.
Pass on liquid body cleansers for now - they can coat shower bottoms and make them slippery. Opt for a bar of soap instead.
