TURTLECREEK TWP. - Three people were hospitalized Friday after the driver of a Warren County MRDD school bus lost control on Greentree Road and struck two vehicles, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A passenger in a minivan struck head-on by the bus, Lisa A. Nelson, 34, of Middletown, was in serious condition late Friday at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
The school bus driver, Joy Turner, 44, of Lebanon, was taken to an outpatient hospital in Lebanon with minor injuries, Patrol Sgt. Clint Arnold said.
The driver of the minivan, Winford Oney, 53, of Middletown, was taken to Middletown Regional Hospital and was in serious condition, Arnold said.
The 2:04 p.m. accident occurred after the driver of the bus went off the right side of eastbound Greentree Road, overcorrected, traveled left of center and struck a pickup truck, he said.
The truck slammed into a utility pole. The driver, Donna Martin, 46, of Middletown, suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment, he said.
A red Honda Civic directly behind the pickup truck was forced off the road and struck a tree. The driver, Jerry E. Johnson, 42, of Franklin, also refused medical treatment, he said.
Then, the bus struck the minivan head-on, Arnold said.
The only other person on the bus at the time of the crash was a female aide, Cynthia Surface, 48, of Morrow, who suffered a minor injury but was not taken to a hospital.
