Cincinnati policeman charged with assault

Public safety notes

The Enquirer

A Cincinnati police officer was arrested Thursday, accused of punching a woman in the arm and choking her.

Marcus McNeil, 30, was charged with two counts of assault and domestic violence. The allegations stem from a Mayincident and a second one Tuesday, according to court documents. The woman, Dionne Davis, is described as living in the same house as McNeil, but court records do not specify the exact nature of their relationship.

McNeil's police powers were suspended, and he will remain on desk duty until the case is resolved. He was released from jail on his own recognizance.

McNeil has been on the Cincinnati force since January 1999.

Gabriel Tyron Smith, 25, of Middletown, was in stable condition Friday at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was shot in the back around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Atlantis Night Club, 1200 Elliott Drive. As police were investigating, they were called to a report of shots fired at Edward Brothers Hall, 1402 First Ave.Officers were also called to the 2200 block of Hill Avenue on a call of shots fired. Couple at nearby hotel charged in drug holdup

LEBANON - A Lebanon couple charged in a hold-up at a pharmacy Friday didn't go very far, police say.

Travis Collins, 24, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated robbery. His wife, Amy Collins, is charged with drug possession. They are in the Warren County jail with bond set at $20,000 and $15,000, respectively.

Lebanon police say Travis Collins entered the Bryans Family Pharmacy at 726 E. Main in Lebanon on Wednesday, and presented a note demanding OxyContin. He obtained several bottles of the pain medication, police say. The two were arrested at a hotel across the street from the pharmacy.

Investigators received tips that someone had OxyContin at a hotel across the street.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the hotel at 10:30 a.m. Friday, recovered OxyContin and arrested two people, Lebanon Police Sgt. Fred Jacobs said.

Investigators from the Warren-Clinton Drug and Strategic Operations Task Force assisted Lebanon police, Jacobs said.
