Forums focus on public schools

The Enquirer

Public education takes center stage when Ohio's key education groups sponsor Public Education Matters forums statewide Sept. 29.

The forums are designed to focus attention on the importance of public education. Meetings will occur simultaneously in Ohio's 33 Senate districts 7-9 p.m. All area state legislators and legislative candidates have been invited to participate. Meetings will be held at the following locations:

• Senate District 4, Fairfield High School, 8800 Holden Blvd., Fairfield.

• Senate District 7, Franklin High School, 750 E. Fourth St., Franklin.

• Deer Park High School, 8351 Plainfield Road, Deer Park.

• Norwood Middle School, 2060 Sherman Ave., Norwood.

Hoxworth offers UC prize package

Donors who give blood at any Hoxworth Blood Center or blood drive through the end of the month have the chance to win a University of Cincinnati Bearcat football prize package. One donor will win two tickets to four home games; a $50 gift certificate to Christy's and Lenhardt's; and a one-night stay at the Kingsgate Marriott. Information: (513) 558-1200 or www.hoxworth.org.

Photo showed Buddy Walk

The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati raised $120,000 Saturday during its third annual Buddy Walk along the Newport Levee. About 4,200 walkers participated in the event, which included separate walks of one mile and two miles. The money raised supports families and children with Down syndrome. A caption under a photo in Sunday's Local News section misidentified the event.

TRAFFIC WATCH

Watch for lane restrictions due to overhead sign replacement on Interstate 75 southbound between Interstate 74 and the Ohio River. Crews will also be changing overhead signs on I-74 between the Indiana line and Exit 5 and between Spring Grove/Elmore and I-75. The left lanes may be restricted between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
