MIDDLETOWN - Three people were struck by gunfire Monday evening when shots were fired into a crowd at 16th and Minnesota streets.
The shooting occurred about 5:35 p.m. during a disturbance involving several women, police said.
During the fracas, an unknown number of men fired shots in the crowd.
Those hit by the gunfire were Christina Foster, 17, Terry Smith, 22, and Clyde Townsend, 45, police said.
All were taken to Middleton Regional Hospital, where Foster underwent surgery for four gunshot wounds and Smith was treated for one gunshot wound. Townsend was treated and released.
None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, police said.
The shooting is believed to be a carryover from a shooting that occurred at the Atlantis Nightclub on Thursday, police said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked call Middletown police at 425-7738.
