Woman dies months after being beaten

BURLINGTON - Stacy Beals, 27, a Carrollton native who was attacked in a Boone County motel this summer, died on Saturday.
Beals never recovered from the head wounds she received in the June 27 attack at the Econo Lodge in Richwood, according the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Rodney Beckham, who was 36 at the time of the attack, remained in the Boone County jail Monday in lieu of $250,000 bond.
He was arrested two days after the attack and charged with attempted murder and being a persistent felony offender.
Boone County Commonwealth's Attorney Linda Tally Smith said she would ask a judge to amend the charges against Beckham to murder.
Wanted for assault, man turns himself in
FLORENCE - Dennis A Taylor, 48, of Florence, is being held on a $50,000 cash bond at the Boone County jail on a charge of first-degree assault.
Taylor turned himself in to Florence police Monday morning after he learned there was a warrant for his arrest in connection with a stabbing on Dunham Court Saturday. He pleaded not guilty in district court Monday.
Taylor is to have no contact with the victim should he make bond.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. today.
Alan Hixon, 22, of Cincinnati, was treated at St. Elizabeth North Hospital in Covington for stab wounds Saturday. Police said Hixon's injuries were not life-threatening.
Not guilty plea made in fatal bar fight
He remains in the Boone County Jail.
Police accuse Carter of stabbing Steven Stone, 26, of Warsaw, at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, at Dino's Sports Cafe, 10051 Dixie Highway, Florence.
Tom Scheben, Florence Police Department spokesman, said witnesses told police Stone tried to break up a fight when Carter stabbed him in the chest with a knife. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, Carter then allegedly handed the knife to his wife and instructed her to get rid of it.
