The Enquirer
The finale of CBS Big Brother 5 airs today (8 p.m., Channels 12, 7) and, after a surprising turn of events, Miami University grad Drew Daniel of Urbana, Ohio, is the only contestant with local ties left on the show.
Competing for the $500,000 first prize, Daniel sent his on-screen girlfriend, Diane Henry of Burlington, packing Friday night after the two spent nearly 21/2 months locked in the house together.
When Daniel won the head of the household competition, he chose to dismiss 22-year-old cocktail waitress Henry and go head-to-head with his TV pal, Michael "Cowboy" Ellis. A jury of ousted players will decide who gets the top prize and $50,000 runner-up award. Here's a look at the finalists.
Drew Daniel, 22, recent college grad, single:
Hobbies: Boating, clubbing, golf, basketball, volleyball, kayaking, fishing
Favorite foods: Lucky Charms, Trix, Fig Newtons
Motto: "Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
Best of the season: You've never seen so much Miami University gear on prime-time TV.
Michael "Cowboy" Ellis, 23, security officer, Durant, Okla., engaged dad:
Hobbies: Riding bulls, spending time with his family, roping, hunting
Favorite foods: Raisin Bran, Oreos with milk
Motto: "If you want something so bad that you can taste it, don't let nothing get in the way of your dreams."
Best of the season: Cataloging Cowboy's tortured syntax, rivaled only by his lack of coordination.
