17-year-old bike rider from Latonia hit by car

COVINGTON - A 17-year-old boy riding a bike was seriously injured Wednesday night when he was hit by a car.

The teen, from Latonia, was unconscious Thursday at University Hospital, Covington police said. Lt. Teal Nally did not release the teen's name, though his family had been notified.

The teen was hit about 8 p.m. as he was riding near Hands Pike and Wayman Branch Road. Police had asked for the media's help to find the victim's identity because he was not carrying identification. "As a direct result of the assistance given to us by the media outlets" the victim was identified, Nally said.

Villa Hills forum to discuss road tax

VILLA HILLS - Voters can ask about a proposed road tax at two public hearings next month.

City Council has proposed a special street tax of 85 cents per $1,000 assessed property value to repair and replace about 30 miles of aging streets. If the tax is approved Nov. 2, all of the money raised would go into a special fund that could only be used for street repairs and maintenance.

Hearings will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 20. at River Ridge Elementary School, 2772 Amsterdam Road.
