17-year-old bike rider from Latonia hit by car
COVINGTON - A 17-year-old boy riding a bike was seriously injured Wednesday night when he was hit by a car.
The teen, from Latonia, was unconscious Thursday at University Hospital, Covington police said. Lt. Teal Nally did not release the teen's name, though his family had been notified.
The teen was hit about 8 p.m. as he was riding near Hands Pike and Wayman Branch Road. Police had asked for the media's help to find the victim's identity because he was not carrying identification. "As a direct result of the assistance given to us by the media outlets" the victim was identified, Nally said.
Council reschedules meeting after conflict
LAKESIDE PARK - City Council has rescheduled its October meeting to avoid a conflict with Columbus Day. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the city building, 9 Buttermilk Pike.
N.Ky. baseball honored at 'Batters Up' exhibit
COVINGTON - "Batters Up," an exhibit featuring Northern Kentucky men's and women's baseball and softball leagues from the 1920s through the 1970s, opens this weekend at the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park.
The opening reception is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Free baseball fare, such as hot dogs, soft drinks and chips will be provided, courtesy of Remke Markets. A Seventh Inning Stretch reception also is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21.
Hall of Fame members whose trophies, photos and other memorabilia are displayed include Donna Wolfe, Bill Eilers, Joe Brennan, Bob Hebbeler, Myron Reinhardt, Walt Wherry, Sony Brausch, Mike Lefebre, Ray White Brown, Bill Earl Berryman and Pat Scott, a member of the Fort Wayne Daisies, a women's professional baseball team.
Throughout the exhibit's run, Hall of Fame members and any child who wears a baseball uniform will be admitted for free. Admission for others is $3 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Villa Hills forum to discuss road tax
VILLA HILLS - Voters can ask about a proposed road tax at two public hearings next month.
City Council has proposed a special street tax of 85 cents per $1,000 assessed property value to repair and replace about 30 miles of aging streets. If the tax is approved Nov. 2, all of the money raised would go into a special fund that could only be used for street repairs and maintenance.
Hearings will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 20. at River Ridge Elementary School, 2772 Amsterdam Road.
