Epling's house listed at $670,000
The Enquirer
FLORENCE - The city is asking $670,000 for the four-bedroom Triple Crown ranch that once was owned by its former finance director, who stole millions from the city.
Ron Epling pleaded guilty to 35 counts of theft totaling $2.8 million in February 2003, but prosecutors contended the amount was closer to $4.9 million. Epling died last year while serving a 16-year prison sentence.
"I'm sure it's just an asking price for negotiations," said Vice Mayor Julie Metzger.
The asking price was posted this week on the city's Web site, www.cityofflorenceky.com.
"This will put us way over recovering $4 million in assets," Metzger said.
Interest is strong in the home, she said.
