Ohio seniors saved $15M with cards
Ohio seniors saved more than $15 million on their prescription drug bills in the past year using Golden Buckeye cards, according to Gov. Bob Taft's office. Ohio's discount card was launched in September 2003, just months before the federal government launched a blizzard of discount cards during the first stage of a Medicare drug benefit that takes full effect in 2006. More than 2 million Ohio seniors received the Golden Buckeye Card, and about 92 percent of pharmacies statewide honor the card.
FearFest ticket offered to donors
Hoxworth Blood Center will be recruiting extra donations to help boost the blood supply. Even after the center announced last week that inventory was at low levels, the center "did not see the influx of donors like we normally do during an appeal," said spokesman Michael Anderson. To encourage more donations, those who donate Wednesday through Friday will get a ticket to Paramount's Kings Islands FearFest.
Memorial service location changed
This year's memorial service honoring University of Cincinnati's body donors and their families will be moved from Spring Grove Cemetery to a larger space at UC's College of Medicine. The service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Kresge Auditorium, 231 Albert Sabin Way (formerly Bethesda Avenue), Corryville, with clergy from various faiths presiding. The service is open to the public; however, registration is requested. Information: Gina Duncan at (513) 558-5612.
