Police say teen made up rape story

The Enquirer

SHARONVILLE - Police say a 17-year-old girl who reported a rape attempt and burglary Thursday has admitted making up the incident.

"We found that the case was unfounded and the whole story was fabricated," said Detective Darian Bookman.

The teen called about 6:45 p.m. Thursday to say an unknown man had forced his way into an apartment on Lippelman Road and tried to rape her, police said.

The girl admitted to investigators Friday that her injuries were self-inflicted and that the incident never occurred, police said.

No charges have been filed.
