Onstage at area high schools

This year's high school drama season is, as usual, packed with the types of time-honored shows that have delighted audiences for decades, from Brigadoon to Our Town, The Importance of Being Earnest to Godspell. But local stages will also be alive with a new generation of musicals and dramas that take their cue from Hollywood and beyond.

Don't be surprised if you get invited to sing along with the stage adaptation of Footloose, or The Wiz, the popular retelling of the Wizard of Oz, not to mention School House Rock Live! and Seussical the Musical.

This is our eighth annual high school theater guide, again compiled by Chris Stubbins from questionnaires sent to more than 100 area high schools. Our list is based on the schools that responded. It is not comprehensive.
