The Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati honored Ohio First Lady Hope Taft and helped launch the master plans for the Ohio Botanical Gardens at the Governor's Residence in Bexley.
The day at the center began with a tea where Taft welcomed nearly 100 guests.
The governor's wife explained that the gardens would be a living museum depicting the natural, political and historical aspects of Ohio.
Landscape architect Gary Meisner and landscape designer Dewey Hollister, who helped design the gardens, shared a slide presentation.
Some 250 guests arrived at the center that evening for a cocktail reception, silent auction and a live auction conducted by Jay Karp of Main Auction Galleries, downtown Cincinnati.
This day was co-chaired by Dulany Anning and Melody Robinson.
Corporate sponsors were Anning Group, Wealth Management Advisors: Merrill Lynch, Cinergy Foundation, Convergys, Federated Department Stores and Fifth Third Investment Advisors.
The events raised $5,000 for the Ohio Botanical Gardens.
Remaining proceeds will benefit the Civic Garden Center's Neighborhood Gardens Program.
