The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, in conjunction with Fifth Third Bank, presented Zoofari, one of the season's premiere galas.
Under a tent on the zoo grounds, 1,500 guests enjoyed the black-tie event titled "Expedition to South America."
Guests were greeted by dancers, musicians and jugglers dressed in the colors of South America. Thane Maynard and a team of zoo handlers brought a number of the zoo's residents.
Dinner-by-the bite was provided by more than 30 restaurants, including Maisonette, Boca, JeanRo Bistro, Daveed's, Palomino, Sturkey's, Myra's Dionysus and Nicholson's Tavern and Pub.
After dinner, guests could enjoy a cigar and port bar. For that late ride home, guests were given sacks of White Castle hamburgers.
The event was co-chaired by Norah and Kerry Clark and Jodie and Steve Mahon. Steering committee members included Cincinnati Zoo president and CEO Gregg Hudson, Joni Herschede, Murray Sinclair, James Adams and event planner Joe Rigotti. Tickets ranged from $150 to $175. Corporate sponsors and friends bought tables from $3,000 to $5,000.
