Kentucky National Guard assists in hurricane relief efforts
The Associated Press
FRANKFORT - The Kentucky Army National Guard said a team of 20 aviators will leave for Florida Tuesday to help with hurricane relief efforts.
Soldiers taking part in the mission come from three Frankfort-based units: Company E, 135th Aviation; Company F, 135th Aviation and the 63rd Aviation Group.
The soldiers will go to Brooks Field near Tampa, but missions may take them as far south as Orlando and West Palm Beach.
In addition to the Florida mission, there are 125 Kentucky Army Guard troops in Wheeling, W. Va., providing assistance to the flood stricken victims.
