Court: Reveal donors' names

COLUMBUS - A pro-business group that spent $4 million targeting Ohio Supreme Court Justice Alice Robie Resnick's re-election four years ago must disclose the names of its contributors or face $25,000 daily fines, a state appeals court ruled Thursday.
The three-judge panel of the 10th Ohio District Court of Appeals upheld a 2002 ruling from Franklin County Common Pleas Judge John Bender.
The Ohio Elections Commission earlier that year ordered Citizens for a Strong Ohio to disclose the names because its television ads in the 2000 election went beyond what "issue advocacy" groups are allowed to do. The groups may not directly promote the election or defeat of a candidate.
Resnick, a Democrat, easily won re-election to a third six-year term.
