Omnicare extends offer for rival
The Enquirer
Covington-based Omnicare's $30-a-share offer has drawn the interest of more than half of rival NeighborCare's shareholders, but Omnicare said Friday that it has extended its tender offer for another month.
Omnicare said 51.2 percent of NeighborCare's fully diluted shares were tendered before a Thursday deadline. The supplier of pharmaceuticals to nursing homes initiated the $1.3 billion tender offer June 4. Investors appear to be waiting for the outcome of the FTC's antitrust review of the merger. The new deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 29. Omnicare shares closed Friday at $29.23, up 87 cents.
