City of Cincinnati architect Bob Richardson retired Friday, ending a 32-year career in which he coordinated some of Cincinnati's biggest construction projects, including two professional sports stadiums and Fort Washington Way.
Richardson was hired in 1972 and served over the next three decades as the city's principal architect, superintendent of architecture and facility management and city architect.
He oversaw the city's riverfront development projects including Paul Brown Stadium, Great American Ball Park and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
Richardson received the Apple Award in 2002. The award is given annually by the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati for a person's service, time and expertise in the community.
"He's had an impact on just about every development in the city since 1972," Mayor Charlie Luken said.
