Etheridge to star in gay sitcom

Melissa Etheridge

And one more thing: Melissa Etheridge, the rasping, belting singer-songwriter who happens to be gay will star in an ABC sitcom about a gay single mother.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the untitled project is being pitched as a nontraditional family comedy - sort of a reversed Will & Grace with a kid. It centers on a gay music teacher who lives with her best friend, a straight man. The two are raising the daughter of another friend.

The show is to be written by Linda Wallem, who was executive producer for Fox's comedy series That '70s Show.
