Ohio 8th Senate District
Patricia Clancy (R) v. Jeanette Harrison (D)
What do you believe your district needs most from state government?
Patricia Clancy: First and foremost, my district, as well as most parts of the state, needs jobs. By implementing specific economic development strategies and utilizing Southwest Ohio's first-class business environment and talented workforce, state government can attract and retain successful high-tech manufacturing jobs in my district. In addition, my district needs state government to continue to reform and sufficiently finance quality primary and secondary schools. Good schools are a priority for state government and with my help it is an achievable goal.
Jeanette Harrison: (Did not respond.)
How do you think the next legislature should deal with the state's continuing budget deficit crisis?
Patricia Clancy: There are three key factors to keep in mind: The state budget must be balanced; we must protect priorities that will help to restart our economy, like education and job creation, and we have committed to taxpayers that the temporary sales tax was indeed temporary. With this in mind, I am committed to finding every efficiency possible and to eliminate duplications of services and programs. Raising taxes should be the last option, not the first choice.
Jeanette Harrison: (Did not respond.)
