Mark T. Hayden: To become a more attractive place to do business, we must reduce taxes and regulations on businesses. To address the health care crisis, we should place sensible limits on malpractice awards against our doctors and pass legislation to attract more insurance carriers back to Kentucky so there is more competition for our insurance needs. To attract and keep teachers in Kentucky, we must increase teacher pay. We need tax credits to encourage preservation of our historic homes. We need a strong representative who can make sure we get our fair share of revenue from Frankfort.

Dennis Keene: My plan is simple. I want to follow the in the steps of Jim Callahan. I will be a strong, independent leader for the 67th District. As state representative, I will work to pass a budget every year, provide access to affordable health care for every Kentuckian, create and retain jobs in Kentucky, and I will reward our teachers and schools for their performance. If we are able to accomplish these goals then the 67th District will continue to flourish.

What should be done to resolve the chronic budget impasse in the legislature, and how can you help in that process?

Mark T. Hayden: Frankfort needs to get back to a system of open and hardy debate on major issues. We need more open meetings. The House leadership stifled debate on the governor's budget and prevented a vote on the budget. Frankly, we see the same mindset in my opponent, who refuses to debate me or talk about the critically important issues facing this district and this state. I believe I can help because I believe in openness. I'm willing to state my views in public and listen to all sides. That will go a long way in helping clear the logjam.

Dennis Keene: We need cooperation to solve the budget impasse. As state representative, I pledge to cross party lines and work with both Republicans and Democrats to get a budget passed. I will work with the governor and the entire Legislature to do what's best for the people of my district, without regard to the bitter partisanship that has been displayed by our legislature. I will build bridges across the aisle, encourage cooperation and get results.
