HYDE PARK - An eclectic gift shop has branched out from its Wyoming roots to open a new store.
Fancy This will hold a grand opening this week at its new space, 3446 Edwards Road. A percentage of all sales during the opening event, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, will benefit the Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation and Pink Ribbon program.
"We want to highlight October cancer awareness," said Fancy This owner Melissa Kadish.
The stores offer product lines for babies and children, including items that can be monogrammed. There are also hand-painted decorative items, gifts for brides, jewelry, stationery and printing.
The Wyoming store is at 506 Wyoming Ave.
Long-term care center opens in West Chester
WEST CHESTER TWP. - A new long-term care and rehabilitation facility offers a variety of care levels.
Heritagespring of West Chester, located near Voice of America Park, is a 144-bed residence with a chapel, beauty shop, ice cream parlor and a guest room for visiting family members. The community also has a 16-bed Alzheimer's unit designed to protect and reassure residents.
The development is a part of the Carespring Health Care Management network. Carespring, headquartered in Loveland, was formed in 1997 to provide care for older adults.
The facility just passed its Ohio license certification survey, enabling it to accept patients.
"Every detail of Heritagespring has been designed for the comfort of our residents," says Carespring chief executive Barry Bortz. "Common lounges, workshops and cooking areas allow residents to socialize and participate in a large variety of activities. A Montessori school within the facility surrounds residents with the laughter of young voices, and residents in all levels of care are encouraged to take advantage of in-house rehabilitation programs to enhance their quality of life."

Ready-to-stuff animals available for parties
LOVELAND - Mary Beth Schell is ready to bring her stuffed menagerie to clients' homes.
Schell is owner of Noah's Art Animal Workshop.
"Because Noah's Ark Animal Workshop is a traveling 'stuff 'n' fluff' workshop, it is very convenient for Noah's Ark to set up shop at home birthday parties, baby showers and play groups, preschool and day care centers and children's hospitals," said Schell.
Children choose an unstuffed animal, add filling and a "rainbow wish star," name their animal, create a birth certificate and choose an outfit, Shell said.
The company was founded in the Chicago area in 2003. It was designed to attract franchisees who want schedule flexibility and the ability to work from their homes.

Massage therapy center now open
SHARONVILLE - Five practitioners of massage and relaxation therapies have opened a center in the Sharonville Executive Center.
Hands On Massage and Holistic Therapy brings together the expertise of Karen Lane, Linda Neff, Lisa Roth, Adrienne Kistner and Andre Hughes. Lane and Hughes are licensed massage therapists, Neff has a diploma in reflexology, Roth is a registered nurse and Kistner has degrees in health promotion and nutrition.

NORWOOD - Female small-business owners and those who aspire to own their own businesses are invited to a program Oct. 13.
Boost Your Business, co-sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the University of Cincinnati Small Business Development Center, is also supported by Provident Bank and Quadrant Financial.
Concurrent sessions include "Doing Business with the Government," "Show Me the Money!" (securing financing) and "Developing Company Benefits." Several experts in each field will be available to work with participants individually.

Local banker named to 'Most Powerful' list
Kathleen Beechem, executive vice president at U.S. Bancorp in Cincinnati, has been named one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking in the October 2004 issue of U.S. Banker, a trade publication. As head of U.S. Bank's metro banking unit, Beechem runs the biggest contributor to the Minneapolis-based-banking giant's profits, generating about $2 billion in revenue. Beechem ranked 20th. Also, Colleen Kvetko, president and CEO at Fifth Third Bank in Florida, finished in fifth place. Fifth Third Bank in Florida is an affiliate of Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bancorp.
Fidelity appoints adviser group official
BOSTON - Fidelity Investments, the world's largest mutual fund company, said it appointed Scott W. Dell'Orfano executive vice president and national sales manager of Fidelity Registered Investment Advisor Group.
The group is one of the largest providers of custody and brokerage services to independent registered investment advisers, with more than $110 billion in assets on behalf of almost 2,400 advisers, Fidelity said.
Before joining Fidelity, Dell'Orfano was senior vice president for strategic development and management of the adviser network at Philadelphia's SEI Investments Co. Dell'Orfano also has worked at Boston Financial Group and Keyport Life Insurance Co., Fidelity said.
Sharp plans to launch 65-inch flat-screen TVs
Sharp Corp., Japan's No. 1 maker of liquid-crystal displays, will start selling the world's biggest LCD televisions next year to tap growing demand for flat-panel models measuring 45 inches or more.
The maker of Aquos-brand liquid-crystal display TVs will sell a 65-inch model and another one measuring at least 50 inches next business year, said Takashi Okuda, a managing director for the Osaka- based company, in a news conference at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies, or Ceatec Japan, held near Tokyo.
Demand for LCD televisions helped boost Sharp's net income 40 percent during the six months ended Sept. 30. The company started selling a 45-inch TV in August costing the equivalent of about $9,000, said a company spokesman.
Sara Lee focuses on food, coffee products
CHICAGO - Sara Lee Corp., the maker of Hanes underwear and Jimmy Dean meats, is adding new ham, bread and coffee products to boost sales of its biggest brands, senior executives said at an investor presentation yesterday.
The company is developing meat products under the Hillshire Farm brand to "lessen dependence on commodity-driven base products" and introducing more nationally branded baked goods, according to a statement on its Web site.
Sara Lee executives including Chief Executive Officer Steven McMillan were meeting with analysts in Chicago to discuss changes to the company's five main businesses, such as expanding the Senseo single-serving coffee and tea unit to compete with Kraft Foods Inc. and Nestle SA.
Recovering Kmart plans store makeovers
TROY, Mich. - Kmart Holding Corp. plans to renovate a number of its stores, marking the first major investment in stores since the retailer emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year.
Work began last week on Kmart stores in White Plains, N.Y. and in Boca Raton, Fla. Kmart officials declined to say how many other stores would be renovated, where they would be located or what they will look like.
The Troy-based retailer also has embarked on a multi-pronged effort to reinvent its clothing lines to appeal to the young and fashion-conscious, The Detroit News reported.
Wal-Mart continues aggressive expansion
BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to open or expand 40 to 45 of its flagship discount stores and 240 to 250 Supercenters in the United States next year as the world's largest retailer continues an aggressive expansion plan.
Relocations or expansions of current stores will account for about 160 of the new Supercenters, which sell both discounted general merchandise and groceries, the company said.
