Homes still selling after lead removal
In only two weeks, more than half of the 39 empty homes have been sold in Liberty Estates, the former lead-contaminated Lexington Manor subdivision in Liberty Township. Ryland Homes has contracts on 23 homes, and deposits on three more, built on the former Millikin Road skeet-shooting range, says John Adams, Ryland's Ohio Valley Division president. After the five-month government-ordered lead cleanup was completed last month, Ryland offered the two-story homes for $204,000 to $274,000 - about $45,000 under market value.
