Symphony's label named No. 1 by 'Gramophone'

Cleveland-based Telarc International was recently named Label of the Year by UK-based classical monthly Gramophone magazine. Praised for the "astounding fidelity" of its recordings, the label is home to both Paavo Jarvi and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops. Gramophone editor James Jolly highlighted a pair of recordings by Jarvi and the CSO as instrumental in Telarc's win. "Listening to Jarvi's Ravel in surround is a quite extraordinary experience," Jolly wrote. "Daybreak, from the Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2, is almost palpable as the light glows and finally bursts upon us."
