Put on that Golightly look

By Marilyn Bauer
Enquirer staff writer

IF YOU GO

When: By appointment only 11 a.m. and 4 and 6 p.m. Thursday.

Where: Lazarus Macy's, Kenwood Towne Centre

Cost: Free, with $40 purchase.

Information: (513) 745-5253

Now that bare summer days without stockings and makeup have given way to the tweeds and cashmeres of fall fashion, it's time again to think about a full-on face.

This season, it's all about buffing, polishing, blending and lining for Hollywood glamour at night and a Breakfast at Tiffany's look for day.

In fact, think Holly Golightly, day to night, with swanky smoke-feathered eyes, cat-eye liquid liner and lots and lots of luxurious lash.

"Tempt me/Tease me" is what the experts at M.A.C. cosmetics are calling it.

M.A.C.'s trainer to the trainers, makeup artist Laura Scheidt will visit Lazarus-Macy's at Kenwood Towne Centre to give us the skinny on what to wear. On Thursday, at 11 a.m. and 4 and 6 p.m. for an hour each, complimentary classes (with $40 purchase) will feature a volunteer from the audience being made up.

Scheidt will show how it really is possible to get a straight line with liquid liner, an arched eyebrow that doesn't look like a paint-by-number nightmare and answer whether we really can go for the faux when it comes to eyelashes.

"The eyes for evening are in earth tones with lots of greens and rusty colors, says M.A.C. counter manager and makeup artist Niki Brackett. "Lips are in thriller plums and bold reds this fall. For day, there are more plums and grays with soft shell-pinks and very defined features in softer hues."

M.A.C. also will be showing its new matte look, with lipsticks in subtle taupe and pinks.

"These are colors that blend with classic reds," says Brackett. "It's the idea of no longer wearing gloss or shine, just richly pigmented lips."

Whatever your skin tone or age, after an hour at M.A.C. you'll be ready for Tiffany's.
