Special Event

B.J. Foreman's fine pearl emporium, Boris Litwin Jewelers on Hyde Park Square, is brimming with pearls - Tahitian pearls, freshwater pearls and Japanese Akoya pearls in classic cream to what Foreman describes as "screaming key lime green." Prices: $10-$57,000.

Through Oct. 22, in celebration of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra's pearl (30th) anniversary; the store is donating 10 percent of proceeds to the orchestra.

What's new about pearls? "Pearls worn the way flappers wore them, very long almost to the knees and wearing multiple strands - 10 or 15 at the same time or twisted," Foreman says.

And color: "We have copper, cherry and a yellow that looks like pure sunshine in every imaginable size and shape."

Information: 621-1123.

Opening

Ambiance Salon and Spa, an Aveda affiliate, has opened at 9437 Civic Center Blvd, Suite B, in West Chester Township just in time to show you what's hot in hair and make-up for the up-coming months. Information: Katie Workman at 771-9335.

Don't Miss

TJMaxx has gone Italian with European-crafted accessories and misses sweaters at prices that will make you fill your cart with all fall's colors.

Fashion Benefit

University of Cincinnati's ultra-chic DAAP fashionistas promise hip music and fast-forward fashions at the "RetroFittings" fashion event 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the 20th Century in Oakley.

This casual, funky evening features a runway show of up-to-the-minute fashions created by UC students with $15 worth of vintage finds from St. Vincent de Paul. There will be a People's Choice vote for best design.

Tickets - $15, $10 for students - are available at www.svdpcincinnati.org (513) 562-8841, Ext. 25, or at Fetish (boutique) in Hyde Park. Information: Ann Keeling at 233-3248.
