Trustees to explain special tax district
LIBERTY TWP. - Creating a special taxing district for three new subdivisions to fund road widenings and a new firehouse will be explained by township trustees at an Oct. 28 public hearing.
Property owners in Creekside Meadows, Falling Water and Aspen Trails have been invited to the 7 p.m. meeting at township hall.
The township would divert anticipated increased tax revenues from the developed property into a special fund to pay for replacing the township's original 1950s Maustown firehouse No. 1 in 2006, widening the Ohio 747-Kyles Station Road intersection in 2006 and expanding Ohio 747 to four lanes from Princeton Road to Ohio 4 by 2012, says Dini Minneci, township administrator.
The districts would not increase homeowners' taxes, trustees say. The county auditor would place a portion of residents' regular property tax payments into a special township fund for these projects, not the general fund.
