Must-see
Everybody Loves Raymond, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7.
This season's first three episodes have offered Raymond at its funniest. Last week's was brilliant with Ray prolonging a feud between his mother and his wife, Debra.
Tonight brings a fresh crisis: Ray must relay the news that the PTA doesn't like the way Debra dresses.
Diary of a Political Tourist, 8 p.m. HBO.
Alexandra Pelosi's first documentary, Journeys With George, had charm, but it was fairly flat and one-note. This new film, by comparison, mixes humor with a strong portrait of the primary process.
We see Howard Dean chanting the same phrase over and over. We see the singing Bob Graham clan, which Pelosi calls Partridge Family politics.
It's interesting and a bit sad. As Pelosi points out, the only men who made it to the finish (John Kerry and John Edwards) were the ones who stayed on plan and on message without detour.
Worth watching
The Backyardigans debut, 11 a.m., Nickelodeon. This computer-animated series has five friends concocting great adventures. The characters are delightful, but the songs are bland even by kid-show standards. Grownups will find the show charming while fearing that someone will soon break into another song.
Maya and Miguel debut, 4:30 p.m. Channels 16, 54; 5 p.m. Channel 48. Instead of going with an established book, Scholastic Entertainment has crafted a new cartoon series centering on 10-year-old Hispanic twins. The emphasis is on top voice actors: the cast includes Elizabeth Pena as the twins' mom, Lucy Liu as their friend, Maggie, and Erik Estrada as Felipe the mailman.
Still Standing, 8 p.m., Channels 12, 7. After learning his son is good at a fantasy game, Bill obsesses on it.
Listen Up, 8:30 p.m., Channels 12, 7. Tony (Jason Alexander) breaks a prime rule: Never get former basketball star Dennis Rodman angry.
Everwood, 9 p.m., Channels 64, 26. Anne Heche, who has been re-asserting herself as a good actress, joins the show. She plays Amanda Carver, often considered the town's patron saint. Her husband has been stricken by aphasia and unable to communicate; Andy (Treat Williams) will have some ideas about his treatment.
Las Vegas, 9 p.m., Channels 5, 2. As Danny watches a baby, he worries that the mother isn't coming back. Meanwhile, George Hamilton plays someone who would rather lose his money than give it to his divorcing wife. And Clint Black plays himself, sort of doing a desert rescue.
Saving Emily (2004), 9-11 p.m, Lifetime. Alexandra Paul plays someone who needs a transplant for her daughter, who is suffering from leukemia. Soon, she must sink into the seedy underworld of her ex-husband.
LAX, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 2. The airport gets involved in a complex Arab-American custody case.
