S. Lebanon considers restoring tax credit

News briefs

The Enquirer

SOUTH LEBANON - Council will discuss restoring a partial income tax credit in this Warren County village.

Village officials are considering a 0.5 percentage point credit for residents who pay taxes to other municipalities they work in. The issue is expected to come up at the Oct. 21 meeting.

South Lebanon has a 1 percent earnings tax. The village removed the credit a couple of years ago with the understanding it would be restored, Mayor James Smith said.

If approved, the credit would likely take effect in January.

Shelter donated for park entry road

WEST CHESTER TWP. - The donation of a surplus guard shack will save Butler County MetroParks the $9,000 cost of building a new one.

At the suggestion of David Gully, township administrator, the township trustees donated a fiberglass guard station which had been removed from the new township services and police headquarters, 9577 Beckett Road.

County park rangers will use the building while collecting motor vehicle permit fees at Ronald Reagan Voice of Freedom Park on Cox Road, north of the township's Voice of America Park. Rangers have been sitting on a picnic bench or in a car since the park opened in May, says Mike Muska, MetroParks director.

Great Outdoor events may be done again

UNION TWP. - The steering committee for the Great Outdoor Weekend, a collection of free events at more than 50 local nature and environmental venues on the weekend of Sept. 25-26, is contacting participants to gauge interest in continuing the event the first weekend of fall in 2005.

The first Great Outdoor Weekend, modeled after the Fine Arts Sampler held each winter, attracted more than 3,000 visitors.

INDIAN HILL - The Football Parents Club of Indian Hill High School will host a benefit concert for Salem Davis at 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school auditorium, 6845 Drake Road.
