The community is invited to a memorial service Saturday for Staff Sgt. Omer T. Hawkins, 31, killed last week in Iraq, at 3 p.m. at North Adams High School near Seaman in Adams County. Hawkins, a 1991 graduate of North Adams High School and a native of Cherry Fork, was killed Thursday when his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb near Ar Ramadi. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with burial in Peebles' Locust Grove Cemetery.

Voinovich holds 27-point lead

The poll was conducted Oct. 11-17 by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. A random sample of 757 likely voters was interviewed by telephone. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
