Kings teachers say their work is deserving
In the schools
DEERFIELD TWP. - Saying they are tired of remaining silent, a group of Kings Local Schools teachers spoke out Tuesday about the value of their work.
The group - Supporting and Honoring Outstanding & Responsible Educators - said it supports the Nov. 2 levy.
"Teachers and the district ought not be the scapegoat on this issue," said Jorge Gonzalez, president of the Kings Education Association. "This levy affects us on the front line."
The group said teachers spend an average of 8.8 hours in their schools daily, and another six hours a week planning and grading papers at home.
The levy would raise $3.3 million annually for operations and increase taxes $150 on a $100,000 house.
