Actor Bob Elkins is one of five people tapped to receive "Spirit of Cincinnati" awards from the Cincinnati International Film Festival today at the Contemporary Arts Center.
Elkins has appeared in such local productions as Tattered Angel and April's Fool, as well as the ABC movie The Pennsylvania Miners' Story and the upcoming PBS mini-series The War That Made America.
Also due to be honored are filmmaker Jim Amatulli, whose first feature Artworks is due to open at the Esquire Theatre on Friday; Greg Newberry, creator of the award-winning short film Homefree; Andrea Kornbluh, executive director of the Cincinnati Women's Film Festival; and Lori Holladay, founder of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Film Commission.
A reception with the honorees is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., followed at 4:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony. Admission is free. (513) 379-6462,
