Scripps hires VP for new network

The Scripps Networks unit of Cincinnati-based E.W. Scripps Co. has hired Ed Hardy as a senior vice president to guide the transition of the Great American Country network into Scripps. Jeff Wayne will remain as president of Great American Country. Scripps announced earlier this month that it was acquiring Great American to add to its other cable networks.

Financial Corp. notes on sale

Cincinnati Financial Corp. said Wednesday it will sell $375 million worth of 30-year senior promissory notes at 6.125 percent. The Fairfield-based insurer said it would use about $128 million of the proceeds to pay off an inter-company debt to its Cincinnati Insurance Co. unit, $100 million for a headquarters expansion, $58 million to pay off a line of credit and the remainder for general purposes. The notes are now on sale. .
