GOP offers tickets for Bush rally
Local Republicans will give out candy and encourage kids to dress up in Halloween costumes for President Bush's visit Sunday to Cincinnati, Bush-Cheney Hamilton County Chairman Greg Hartmann said. Bush is expected to speak at 8 p.m. Sunday - less than 35 hours before polls open in Ohio next Tuesday - to a crowd of 50,000 or more at Great American Ball Park. Gates will open at 4 p.m. Tickets for the event are available beginning 9 a.m. today through party headquarters in Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren counties. Call (513) 621-3420 for information.
$1M gift trims United Way gap
United Way of Greater Cincinnati has a million reasons to thank Corporex President and CEO Bill Butler and his wife, Sue. They recently became Northern Kentucky's first couple to make a $1 million donation, to be paid over five years. Butler founded Corporex Companies Inc. in 1965. The campaign gap, which was about $700,000 in mid-October, was cut to $200,000 by Wednesday, largely because of the Butlers' gift, said United Way spokeswoman Carol Aquino.
Special section summarizes ballot
A four-page special section summarizing the races and issues that local voters will decide next Tuesday will appear in this Sunday's Enquirer. Look for stories on the key issues: Ohio's marriage amendment, the vote to repeal Article XII, and a wrap-up of the presidential race, as well as mini-profiles of all local candidates in national, state and county-level races in Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Clermont and Dearborn counties.
CORRECTION: Bar rating given was not right
A story in Monday's Enquirer incorrectly stated the rating given to Supreme Court candidate William O'Neill by the Ohio State Bar Association. The correct rating is "recommended."
