Sickened CCD student remains in hospital
INDIAN HILL - One of 11 first-graders sickened by chemical fumes at Cincinnati Country Day's swimming pool remained hospitalized in fair condition Thursday.
Madeira-Indian Hill fire officials said the school's pool area remained closed while investigators continued trying to determine the cause of the noxious gas release about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The air around the pool area registered normal Thursday, Fire chief Steve Ashbrock said.
Officials earlier suspected chemicals commonly associated with treating pool water.
Indictment returned in 2002 shooting death
Two and half years after Thomas Baskin was fatally shot in Over-the-Rhineand another man hurt, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted the accused gunman.
Willie Russ, 30, of Price Hill, was indicted on charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault in the April 24, 2002, shootings. Albert Crutchfield was injured
According to prosecutors, Russ and the two victims argued inside a Central Avenue bar. After the bar closed, prosecutors say Russ waited for Crutchfield, 26, and Baskin, 29, and asked them for a ride home.
As the car started moving, Russ is accused of shooting Crutchfield though the seat and shooting Baskin as he tried to jump out the passenger-side door.
Russ was arrested in October and is jailed in Hamilton County in lieu of $500,000 bail. He faces life in prison.
