According to Chinese proverb, there is "... an invisible red thread connecting those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance." The red thread served as theme for this year's "Passport to Forever" luncheon
and fashion show, a benefit for the International Adoption Center of Cincinnati
Children's Hospital Medical Center.
More than 500 guests, big and small, turned out for the event featuring Lucy Kaplansky, nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and adoptive mother of 1-year-old Molly. Kaplansky shared her story of adopting in China and her music, including "The Red Thread," a song written for her daughter.
The afternoon featured a silent auction and a fashion show from Talbot's Kids. WKRC-TV news anchor Kit Andrews, also an adoptive parent, was emcee, along with the Cincinnati Zoo's Thane Maynard.
Co-chairs were Sharon Hudson and Nancy Kayes. Sponsor was PNC Foundation.
The afternoon's proceeds, about $44,000, will benefit the adoption center, which addresses the health needs of internationally adopted children, their families and community.
