XM features 68 diverse music channels programmed by knowledgeable DJs who never use computer-generated playlists, spokesman David Butler says.

"These are people who intimately know and love the music they play," he says.

NASCAR fans, Big Ten backers, African-Americans and families also can find XM stations aimed at them.

In addition to 65 music channels that span everything from classical compositions to brand-new indie rock songs, Sirius offers five political stations, says spokesman Ron Rodrigues: "Two liberal, two conservative and one in the center." There are also stations geared toward women, Grand Ole Opry buffs and sports nuts of all stripes.

Here's a rundown of several more stations you're not going to find on AM or FM:

Fungus: Old and new punk rock, mixed with ska, industrial and surf tracks.

Sonic Theater: Short stories, serial readings, abridged audio books and radio dramas.

Playboy Radio: A premium channel offering adults-only programming.

Raw Dog: The uncensored comedy of such stand-up stars as Chris Rock and Lewis Black.

Reggae Rhythms: Island-tinged tunes performed by everyone from Bob Marley to Beenie Man.
