Saluting our soldiers

New first lieutenant

Gregory Price has been promoted to first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He is stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

The Finneytown High School and University of Cincinnati graduate is the son of Mackie and Ken Price of Batavia.

A future officer

Eric David Baker has completed cadet basic training at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. Upon graduation from the academy, he will be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

The Wyoming High School graduate is the son of Debbie and Kenneth Baker of St. Mary's, Ohio.

Air Force-trained

These airmen have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas:

Kenneth Lay, a Mason High School graduate and son of Paula Lay of Mason; Derek Gibson, Northwest High School graduate and son of Denise and William Gibson of Forest Park; Steven Scherpenberg, Roger Bacon High School graduate and son of Karen and Steve Scherpenberg of St. Bernard; Matthew Noble, Fairfield Union High School graduate and son of Denise Matz of Lancaster and Edward Noble of Middletown; Jordan Dashley, Sycamore High School graduate and son of Cindy Dashley of Blue Ash and John Dashley of Milford; Megan Fraley, Middletown High School graduate and daughter of Kay Fraley of Middletown; Ryan Schneider, Roger Bacon High School graduate and son of Jenny Schneider of College Hill; Michael Whittymore, Williamsburg High School graduate and son of Amy Kuhlman and David Whittymore, both of Williamsburg; and Timothy Hennika, McNicholas High School graduate and son of Cynthia and Kenneth Hennika of Mount Washington.
