Flood of 97
The Associated Press WIRE

Be careful

As people return to homes that were soaked, here are some precautions:

Wear boots and gloves.

Clean and disinfect everything that got wet. Make a disinfectant by adding one-half cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water.

Check gas supply, sewage lines, telephones and electricity. If you detect any problems, immediately contact the appropriate utility.

Throw out soft and porous items that might have touched flood waters - wooden utensils and cutting boards, baby bottles, nipples and pacifiers.
