Flood of 97
The Associated Press WIRE

Friday, March 7, 1997
Fund benefits
young victims

Earlier this week, Neediest Kids of All established a Flood Relief Fund to help local schoolchildren who have lost clothing, eyeglasses, hearing aids or other special items in the flood.

The Gannett Foundation and The Cincinnati Enquirer have contributed $20,000. And Jacor Communications Inc. has contributed $5,000.

Neediest Kids of All will match the first $100,000 in contributions dollar for dollar, said J.J. Wales, Neediest Kids executive director.

The fund will be accessible to all local schools whose students live in flood-damaged areas. Teachers will be asked to report special needs among children in their classrooms, and funding will be provided.

Neediest Kids of All, now in its 46th year, is co-sponsored by The Enquirer and Jacor. Each year, the program provides help for the emergency needs of about 50,000 local children.
