The 1937 crest hit 21 feet at home plate of Crosley Field. Rowboats could clear the ballpark fence. 
The Suspension Bridge was the only open link along the Ohio River in '37.  While automotive traffic jams were a problem during the 1997 flood, boat traffic filled some downtown streets in 1937. 
These men made the best of a bad situation along Eastern Avenue in '37. 
Bread and milk needed to be obtained via boat during the ' 37 deluge.
