2nd shooting victim on life support
OVER-THE-RHINE - The second man shot Monday here remains on life support at University Hospital.
The 28-year-old man, whose name was not yet released, was found just before 10 p.m., lying in the street near the intersection of 13th and Vine streets. Officers said he had been shot more than once, with one of the bullets hitting him in the head. Homicide detectives are investigating.
The victim in Monday's first shooting, at about 4 p.m. on Race Street, was identified this morning as George A. Vance, 27, of Burlington. He was shot on Republic Street, but managed to make it around the corner onto Race, where officers found him. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vance was the 28th homicide victim in Cincinnati so far this year. That compares with 29 victims as of this time in 2003, which became a 26-year record high at 75 victims.
