Woman sentenced for selling sex tapes

The Enquirer

A 34-year-old Anderson Township woman who sold videotapes of her sexual encounters through an e-mail address that ridiculed Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis was sentenced today to six months in jail.

Jennifer Dute pleaded guilty to two charges of attempted pandering obscenity, both misdemeanors. Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Norbert Nadel then convicted Dute, imposing the sentence.

Dute won't be jailed, though - she has already served her sentence.

In May 2003, the Ohio 1st District Court of Appeals threw out Dute's original conviction on four charges of felony pandering obscenity for selling the videos in the early months of 2002. She has served eight months of a year-long sentence on the charges.

The appeals court determined that Dute did not get a fair trial because Judge Patrick Dinkelacker refused to allow defense attorneys to show jurors a similar explicit video available in Hamilton County.
